The East Side Viperz is a predominantly Asian crime syndicate based in the area of East Los Santos, Los Santos, San Andreas. The gang is known across the United States as one of the most successful and ruthless Asian organizations in the history of the country, with connections to several known organized crime syndicates across the state. The notorious Jefferson-based street gang has a variety of members and affiliates, ranging from Chinese, Japanese and Cambodian, as Blythe Avenue is a gang based in one of the largest Asian communities in the city of Los Santos.

Recruiting for the gang starts young as affiliates of Blythe Avenue target teens as early as twelve years old and pressure them into being a member of the gang. The Asian American street gang are mainly connected with the Black Dragons (黑龍) in the region. Along with these connections, the Blythe Avenue Viperz have a variety of different connections across the state, trafficking large amounts of drugs and firearms to and from the area of Los Santos.

The area of Jefferson is widely-known across the country for it's incredibly high crime rate that the Los Santos Police Department are unable to control. Police cooperation between civilians in Jefferson is the lowest of the city, because of the pressure and fear that Blythe Avenue Viperz and surrounding gangs instill into the neighborhood.

As of recent, the notorious Blythe Avenue Viperz have expanded into the region known as East Los Santos and began placing claim in that region. East Side Viperz was formed and began dominating the region, moving out key players such as Defson Heights Piru, Panic Boys, and smaller Crip sets attempting to dominate the region. Defson Heights was created and began to be settled under the ruling of the East Side Viperz syndicate. The notorious Viper gang has became a notorious organized crime syndicate that began taking over Asians in the region of East Los Santos and influencing them into their ways. Ranging from the bahamas on the west of Blythe Avenue, and the eastern side of Defson Heights, and reaching to the southern tip of Cedar Avenue. Viperz is now dominating the region of East Los Santos, similar to how they have dominated Jefferson for years, the individuals at the top are seeking money, power, and respect. East Side Viperz consists of an organized crime syndicate that commands the lower streetgangs and subsets of the organization that they have put on and command, a prime example of this power lust would be Blythe Avenue ViperZ 81216 and Oriental Lazy Boyz 81216. The structure of the organization resembles that of a military structure and a modern day Triad.

INFORMATION
The faction is storyline based. IC events will lead to an unique experience in character developing. The faction's goal is to portray a fictional asian street gang. By "fictional", we mean that the faction is not based on any OOC organization, although it is highly inspired by some asian street gangs located in the USA and Canada, such as the Tiny Raskal Gang, Asian BoyZ and Menace of Destruction.

By joining this faction, be aware that we expect you to roleplay your character to the fullest. The gang is mainly composed by continental south-eastern Asian descendants, such as Chinese, Cambodians, Koreans, Vietnamese, Laotians and so on. When picking a name for your character, choose an american usual first name (Theodore, Jack, etc) and a south-eastern Asian last name (Vong, Lee, Tsun, etc). Just a sidenote, you do not need to have a generic Asian name, you can be creative with your characters (i.e, roleplay half Asian, half African American, half Hispanic, and so on.), mixed races. The gang's block is roleplayed as a Hmong 'americanized' community. Any questions regarding the faction, go straight to yuvaljke and Complaicant

RULES
    • Recruitment is COMPLETELY In-Character.
    • By joining the faction, you agree to a Character-Kill whenever the IC events lead to it.

    • You must have basic knowledge about the Asian street gangs in the USA & Canada.
    • Always respect the members of the faction OOCly, as well as the whole LS-RP.com community.
    • Upon officially joining the faction, yuvaljke and Complaicant reserve the right to character-kill your character if deemed necessary.

Tai Fat Pawn Shop is a pawnshop in Blythe Avenue, Jefferson which is owned by Henry Leung. Leung is an elderly individual whom is often called Mister Leung around Blythe Avenue. Mister Leung is well respected by the Blythe Avenue residents and he often hires young kids to do his dirty work for him at the cash register. Mister Leung is a welcoming individual who is always trying to extend his enterprise and influence within Jefferson and his mind is always on making money and paying the rent for his store. Tai Fat Pawn Shop is known to sell cheap electronics, such as stereoes, CD players, televisions, iPods, Mp3 players, iPhones, Samsung related products (Notes, Galaxies), and monitors. Tai Fat Pawn Shop is also well known for selling traditional Chinese related items imported from Hong Kong, such as toys and other souvenirs.

Brief History of Hong Kong Pawn Shops:

Hong Kong's Pawn Shop Signs

The Tai Fat Pawn Shop sign.
If you live in or have ever visited Hong Kong, you may have caught an occasional glimpse of a store sign featuring an upside down bat holding a coin. You may have also noticed that these signs are colored in vibrant shades of neon red and green. These signs are used by Hong Kong's pawn shops and have been for well over two hundred years! The colors and symbolism of these signs have special meanings in both Hong Kong and Chinese society as a whole.

In ancient China, store signs started appearing during the Song Dynasty (960-1127). One type of sign commonly found in was that of a coin with an eye in the middle. This type of coin is called a "cash coin" or "eye coin" and was the coin used as currency in ancient China. Hanging above a store door, an "eye coin" sign represented good luck, happiness, and prosperity. Signs featuring coins can still be found across China today and pawn shops are just one type of business that uses a variety of this centuries-old sign.

In Hong Kong Cantonese, a bat holding a coin is known as fuk syu diu gam cin (蝠鼠吊金錢), or "bat [hanging with] a gold coin". Both the bat and the coin have special meanings in Chinese culture, and get their meanings from a unique form of word play.....

In Chinese culture, the upside-down bat symbolizes fortune and prosperity. The Cantonese words for 'bat' and 'good fortune' are both fuk (蝠 is the traditional character for 'bat', or fu in Mandarin. The traditional character for good fortune is 福.) and are pronounced with the same tone, but the inherent meaning is different. An upside-down bat is a particularly auspicious omen since the word for upside-down in Cantonese, dou (倒; dao in Mandarin) is the same for 'arrive' (到). So, thanks to this word play, the upside-down bat means that good fortune has arrived! In addition, the words for "bat descending from the sky" (蝠子天來, or fuk zi tin lai) sound exactly the same as "good fortune descends from heaven" (福子天來)!

The same word play also comes into play (no pun intended) for coins. The Cantonese word for coin is cin (錢, or qian in Mandarin). This also happens to be the same word for 'before' (前). In ancient China, coins had a hole in the center known as an eye. Many coin amulets carried by Chinese feature a bat around the eye of the coin. As you may have guessed, "bat on [the eye of] a coin" (蝠在眼錢, or fuk zoi ngaan cin) is a pun for "happiness before your eyes"!

It's these puns and the connotations for good luck and fortune that made - and still make - the sign depicting a bat holding a coin so desirable for pawn shop owners.

Traditionally, Chinese store signs were - and still are - painted green. Green and red are traditional Chinese colors and in olden times, were used to paint the old wood signs. To this day, these colors are still prominent in the Hong Kong landscape at night. Pawn shops have used these colors in their signs for many centuries.

The old Chun Yuen Pawn Shop sign.

The oldest pawn shop sign in Hong Kong is undoubtedly the wooden Chun Yuen sign propped against a wall at the Chun Yuen Pawn Shop in the old village of Yuen Long in the New Territories. Chun Yuen is Hong Kong's oldest pawn shop which was in business during Qing rule in the early 19th century until just after the end of World War II. The building that housed this shop is still in existence and is officially one of Hong Kong's historical sites. This sign is a perfect example of a traditional Chinese store sign.

Some other famous pawn shop signs in Hong Kong include the sign for the Tai Fat Pawn Shop, which can be seen at the top of this post. This shop is located in the Jordan area of HK's Yau Tsim Mong district. Also lighting up the night sky in Hong Kong are the dazzling red signs of the Wan Chai district's Tung Tak Pawn Shop, the traditional and modern-style signs of the Tak Wah Pawn Shop on Douglas St. in Central, and the massive red
sign advertising the Woo Cheong Pawn Shop, which is also located in Wan Chai.

Apart from the change from wood to neon lighting, the basic pawn shop sign in Hong Kong has gone relatively unchanged over the centuries and still adorns the front of many a shop to this very day!

The Big Bamboo is a billiard (also known as a pool hall) located in Blythe Avenue, Jefferson. The Big Bamboo is ran by Kevin Lu, also known as Uncle Lu around the community. Uncle Lu is an individual in his late forties and he is a stubborn individual when it comes to broken equipment and destroyed property. The Big Bamboo offers a variety of entertainment systems ran by employees around the region. The establishment currently has two arcade systems, a dart set, a punching bag and a functioning bar aswell as the standard pool tables. Additionally, the billiard has an entertainment system near the door.

A brief history of Billiard Halls:

A billiard/billiards, pool or snooker hall (or parlour/parlor, room or club; sometimes compounded as poolhall, poolroom, etc.) is a place where people get together for playing cue sports such as pool, snooker or carom billiards. Such establishments often serve alcohol and may have gaming machines, darts, foosball and other games on the side. The largest pool hall in the United States of America is Q-Master Billiards located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. One of the largest dedicated snooker clubs in the UK is Hazel Grove Snooker Club with 33 tables.

Public perception
In North America in the 1950s and 1960s especially, pool halls in particular were perceived as a social ill by many, and laws were passed in many jurisdictions to set age limits at pool halls and restrict gambling and the sale of alcohol. The song "Trouble" in the 1957 hit musical The Music Man lampooned this prejudice (even contrasting carom billiards, requiring "judgement, brains, and maturity", versus pool, said to be a gateway to laziness, gambling, smoking and philandering). Public perception had changed considerably by the 1990s.

How to play pool:

Take a look at the website here.

Roleplayly, you would be taught how to play pool by someone that's more experienced, in character wise. That website is just to help you understand and get a visual.

For scriptwise purposes, this is how roleplay is normally roleplayed:

You do your normal roleplay of setting up the balls, fixing up the pool cues and so on. We simply just /coin to determine if we hit the ball or not. Heads means you hit the ball and continue playing, tails means you stop and your turn is unfortunately over.
