I don't have anything to say except that I couldn't agree more. It bothers me that people think they can do everything because it is ''just a game''. They spoil the fun for the people who can play seriousley. So I fucking agree with this, and I think everyone should.

Why stop reading something that is still perfectly good and applicable? Personally, I read the thread a couple of weeks ago and just skimmed over it again. It still makes crystal-clear sense, even after two years of constant evolving of the LS:RP community.

Re: [Tutorial] A case for RPing realistically
I +1 this thread.
I roleplay as a sheriff and I don't look upon myself as an armed to the teeth Armageddon bringing 1 man law enforcement officer that will bring pain to all those that break the law. However I have /flip'd before and the guy just ran up to me and continued shooting.
As opposed to that I have also died while typing /flip and the guy apologised for killing me instead of my /flip.
My point is, You don't need a script to Roleplay successfully. A great roleplayer would roleplay and only use the scripts when necessary.
And I am not saying you need 1 million /me's to roleplay correctly heck /me Starts putting cuffs on........ Give the guy a chance to respond...... No response after a short time for me means that I successfully cuff'd him i.e. /do Cuffs are on. 2 /me's and a short time where he can respond "I am resisting" means more /me and calls for help off my fellow officers.
All in all 2 /me's is all it takes for me to put cuffs on someone, I have seen some people use about 20+ just for one arrest.
Following this up
I think something like this should be included in the registration process, maybe add to the test and get people to read a short detailed paragraph or 2 about what great roleplay is and put some questions in about it.

I never mind losing to a person that is portraying their role-play sensibly, but it truly does piss me off when someone is trying to win at all costs, making up stupid excuses and /me commands out of no where.

Re: [Tutorial] A case for RPing realistically
I activly enjoy loosing. Odd sentement but I do, because as you said, RPing properly is all about winning & loosing. In life we have wins and loses and its the loses that really get to us. When someone gets in my taxi and finds a loop hole in my cars defences and draws a gun on me I actually like it. Because it opens a huge range of Rp options, most importantly the damsel-in-distress moment of "how can I save myself" situation.
Loosing opens just as many RP options as winning. And there are two types of people here, the ones who get enjoyment from winning and the ones who enjoy acting. This is a server for the later of those people.
Ps, favorite exhange of coments in a taxi. Forgotten his name, using man.
Man draws a gun and points at Jane
Jane: ((I said their was bullet proof glass when you got in, it has edging in the gap to prevent angling of gun through it))
Man gets out knife and stabs passenged chair repeatably.
Man: 50% complete
Jane shouts: "Hey, what the fuck you do back there?!"
Man: 100% complete
Jane shouts "Get the fuck out my car"
Man pushes gun through new hole and aims at Jane.
Man "Get me the fuck to train-station!"
Like I said, a good role-player thinks outside the box and loosings resuts in amusing role-play.

When you're one of the ten guys, you want him to RP to lose. In other words, you support whatever argument seems to best fit your needs in the particular situation.
Educational thread. The best I've read. Very interesting to spread it.

Re: [Tutorial] A case for RPing realistically
I read this whilst I was waiting for my LS:RP application, I googled 'how to RP realistically on a RP server' and this came up on some site, I read the start and kept saying to myself 'that is so true' so I kept on reading. Read it again and added it to my signature.
scanned the area for cctv, none in sight so aim the gun around freely,
I am known as number one, and I'll put holes in you for fun

Is that why you always get reported, Buttons?
