It's good to see they spend all of that money that goes off their DDoS budget and bank account that doesn't even bring the server down or disturb daily routine by much.

Don't these people have something better to do?

Nope. This is their reaction when they successfully DDoS LS-RP:

Not wondering if they even look like that gnome.

They sadly enough don't, this will be the future. People will fight against each other with ddosing.

Oh well. We can just hope they find something better to do.

Would it then make sense that some of us are the ones that are constantly lagging out, and some of us are never having these lag problems at all?
I happen to be a part of the first group, just want to make sure this is why.

To put it easily, Yes. While the server mitigates the attacks, sometimes good traffic is mitigated as well, which would be causing some people to lag out more than others.

I appreciate the update. The attacks and the lag are pretty annoying.

Let's hope they get over it and move on with their lives. DDOSing a server would be at the last number on my "what to do when I'm bored and sitting on a stack of cash" 100-pages list.

They'll run out of money/time soon enough and it will all be over, not to forget that the person will get caught eventually.

For those who'd like to know what layer 7 DDoS attacks are: http://ddosattackprotection.org/blog/la ... os-attack/

I don't have much knowledge about the OSI model, I did work with it the two years ago though but still. It never really made me care about it so much.

I quote this from the blog to prevent further whining:
How To Fight A Layer 7 DDoS Attack? Mitigating against a complex Layer 7 attack is nearly impossible without having sufficient resources; most notably some type of anti-ddos software / hardware that makes it possible to trace the attack traffic and filter it away. The cost for a service provider, in terms of investment, easily runs into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. For larger DDoS mitigation companies the cost is even higher.

I can't say this blog is speaking 100% the truth though but it should give you a head start of what layer 7 attacks are.

Again I'd to add this to the story. People should just look at the plan 10 price of DDoS protection. http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1312904

I don't care whether the prices are low or high on that forum topic, neither do I care but it should be near that price range I suppose. I guess people will then realize how much it'd cost to fight 10~15 gbps attacks and they should be glad that the server is running for only 30 minutes straight without having lag spikes.

Why do you not report this to authorities, and if you did, why can't they track down the sender? I've seen it done, not for SAMP servers however.

Well, ls-rp isn't like a huge business or so. So i'm not sure if people will get into it for us. As well as this guys will use vpn's, proxy's and what not to make their path un trackable. Most likely if you back track their ips you will find different people.
