The Quickest & Best Photoshop Screenshot Guide

Post by Kendrick_Underwood » Wed Jan 24, 2018 12:41 am

This guide assumes you use the screen resolution 1920x1080, and -3 fontsize. Let me know if it doesn't work on other resolutions.

Firstly download my PSD template:
https://www.upload.ee/files/12991880/LS-RP.psd.html

Then download my action script:
https://www.upload.ee/files/12991894/LS-RP.atn.html

Open the LS-RP.psd file, this should give you a nice size of 845x845, as well as some nice rulers to keep things aligned properly.

Now go to Window > Actions.

You'll see a new panel appear, it's probably empty. Go and run my LS-RP.atn file, and you'll then get a new option inside your Photoshop action window. Expand LS-RP, double check 'Grab text', and assign it a hotkey. I use F12.

Now, all you do is drag your screenshot into a new tab. Ctrl A (select all), Ctrl C (copy), close that tab, and Ctrl V (paste) into the template. Feel free to move it around. The quality will be fine now, not like when you drag a screenshot in and it gets resized and looks shit.

Grab your /blindfold'd screenshot, drag it into a new tab. Ctrl A (select all), Ctrl C (copy), close that tab, and Ctrl V (paste) into the template. Drag it to wherever you like. I usually whack it into the top left or bottom left, against the rulers.

You can use the rectangle selection tool to cut out text you don't want.

Done. Save/export it as you'd like.

People With AutoHotKey:
Because I'm amazing, here's a bind that will set your pagesize to 20, /blindfold, take a screenshot, and then revert you back to normal page size, and removes the blindfold.

Does anyone understand why the rectangle tool cuts out some other parts in the text surrounding it?

Are you talking about when you manually remove lines?

Correct.
Well that's user error then. You're not bing precise enough when selecting lines so you're also selecting bits from the lines above and/or below.

I did use your template but unfortunately my screens don't have the appropriate height. Asked for help and I got told to resize the print.
But the script is indeed very useful however.

It doesn't work on other resolutions. How about, instead, you make a tutorial on how you created those hotkeys and the whole process of removing the black background and such. This way anyone can make his own hotkey and his own template for his specific resolution.

Can you make it work on 800x600 and 1280x800? I’d appreciate that.
