GOVERNOR RAUNER DISSOLVES CITY OF LOS SANTOS
by CHERKASSKY
JUNE 25, 2017
Governor Rauner pictured with Lieutenant Governor Sheldon LeGrand after signing the executive order.
Last night, Governor Larry Rauner issued an executive order dissolving the municipality of Los Santos, centralizing all powers vested in the city under the umbrella of the state government. It will now be the responsibility of the state government to reorganize and restructure the government, including the consolidation of public safety departments and other local services.
"The municipal governments of this state have been rife with corruption, mismanagement, and incompetence, including the convictions of many elected and appointed officials throughout the last decade for various crimes related to public corruption," Rauner outlined in the executive order.
This is not the first time a San Andreas governor has intervened in municipal politics. In 2016, Governor Jesse Styles ordered Mayor Frank Vaughn arrested, after the mayor participated in a labor protest orchestrated by the Port Authority. The protests came in response to an injunction on the port authority issued by the San Andreas Supreme Court.

INTERNAL STRUGGLE HITS THE GOP, JOHNSON OSTRACIZES SMITH
by KELLER
July 5, 2017
Following a meeting with Lieutenant Governor LeGrand and Secretary of State DeLeon, Chairman of the SAGOP, Barrett Johnson had decided to take action against vocal party member and senator for the 5th District of San Andreas. Johnson banished Smith from the numbers of the Republican Party. Following the events, Smith had stated that:
"During the meeting I was respectful and kind; I maintained decorum and I did not once do anything that could constitute as grounds to fire. I did not, however, agree with everything Mr. Johnson had to say but I voiced my disagreements in a respectful, calm manner."
Senator Smith has been recently vocal on his aims to deter crime in San Andreas by introducing the Secure Communities Act, aimed at introducing a three-strike clause alongside a repeat murder sentencing clause. As well as aiming for tougher crime deterrence, the senator had taken a stand on the issue of restricted gun ownership within the state of San Andreas.
The GOP Party Chairman, Senator Barrett Johnson and the current Republican Governor, Larry Rauner are yet to make any comments on the issue.
