Starting up in the mid 90's as a group of small-time gangbangers who knew each other from school, they all resided in East Los Santos, using the local Cardinal Park and the Jefferson Courts as their main hot spots to hang out in after school and at the weekends. They used the name 'Get Money Gang' to let others know who they are when they went out on 'jales.' Petty crimes such as vandalism, theft, public intoxication, reckless driving to possession of drugs ranging from marijuana to methamphetamine were common around this area as the group began to rise in popularity and in numbers. The Jefferson basketball courts and Martinez Drive were littered with 'GMG' and other related graffiti related to the group.
In 1995, two years after the infamous Elysian Park meeting, the Mexican Mafia began to recognize it's own influence it had in Los Santos. The Sureño presence was immense as most of the existing gangs were already either under the allegiance to them but they wanted to grip the city even more. An influential member at the time, Armen Harutian, who was also a known South Side Locotes gang member, organized a meeting much similar to the one that took place in Elysian Park. Many Hispanic gangs coming from all around Los Santos came to this meeting. Among those present were Gallow Hills 13 from Colinas, South Side Locotes 13 from El Corona, Big Hazard 13 from Sixth Street along with the 'Get Money Gang' from Martinez Drive. Those who were already under eMe's wing took this as an advantage to tighten up connections and persuade the other sets into the Sureño function. Most neighborhoods and local sets fell into line and kicked up. Some did it happily while others others had no choice. Among the massive group of gangbangers, there were holdouts who basically told the eMe to pound sand and did not agree to anything being offered, one being the 'Get Money Gang.' They along side others declared themselves and the turf they claimed to be a tax free zone.
As a result to this, eMe declared these neighborhoods who did not oblige to them as always verde, giving every Sureño the greenlight to take care of any member of these neighborhoods. Multiple local sets who fell due to the war that was immediately declared began taking an interest in Martinez Drive. The 'Get Money Gang' began growing in numbers quickly, posing a threat to the Sureño community. The sense of unity under the big threat that was Mexican Mafia at the time is what got the group to gain more numbers. Following their predecessors who did the exact same thing, they began started to call themselves a greenlighter gang, essentially a Maravilla. Making a mockery of eMe's greenlight on them, they began using the color green to affiliate themselves into the Maravilla label. Comparable to a David and Goliath story, the Maravilla survived ongoing Sureño pressure but kept holding on, being the only one of it's kind in Los Santos to survive and eventually take out some Sureño sets within the city.
As the war zone soon diminished from East Los Santos, the Maravilla gang that survived the whole chaos decided to represent Cardinal Park, Martinez Drive specifically. The alleyways, going from Crenshaw to 54th began being littered with graffiti in related to the Maravilla gang. Holding it's own, they sorted out a couple of business relationships with the Crenshaw Hustler Crips, a known Crip gang residing in Crenshaw and Sintown Mafia Crips from Glen Park. With common goals and enemies, the business relationships soon turned into a mutual friendship and alliance between the three. When the three gangs are seen together, they don't claim their sets. They claim East Side, showing their unity under one flag called the 'East Side Connection.' They flaunt it as sign of their dominance and power over East Los Santos. Martinez Drive Maravilla have been seen to have a couple African Americans and Caucasians in their ranks, showing the younger generation of gangbangers have a different mindset and not showing immediate racism compared to their Sureño counterparts who immediately shun them.
