Changes In Development
Hey all,
The productive output of the development team has been stagnating the last few months. This is due to my real life commitments not allowing me to spend as much time on LS-RP as before, and I have neglected the game development extensively, while I focused on more critical tasks, such as system administration to make sure everything runs smoothly day-to-day (and has that been a challenge) and development of other LS-RP related projects that are yet to be announced. They're gonna be pretty cool. With otter leaving the development team due to his real life commitments and lack of spare time to volunteer, the following changes have been made to the development team:
Steps are done to remove bottlenecks and introduce automatisation
We're putting a lot of pressure on automating and getting rid of repetitive and mundane tasks, so the entire staff team can focus on being creative and making the server better, rather than having to deal with delays and bottleneck throughout every execution process. This also involves proper delegation of authority and access.
Surreal is now in charge of the server's creative direction
As previously mentioned, I don't have as much time to be in-game and immersed in the community itself. This is however very necessary in order to know what features the server needs right now. Being the community manager, he's well informed and wired in to figure out what's best for the server and forward these tasks to the development team.
Change of development pace
Instead of focusing on fully fleshed out systems, we're going to focus on splitting new features or systems into fun-sized, easily digestible tasks. In practice, instead of releasing a fully fledged, tested and fleshed out phone system, we'd start by completing and releasing each part of it individually - completing the system over time. This allows for easier testing, separation of concepts and ability to gather feedback early on. We have also started using a task tracking software to help us keep track of what needs doing.
More coders
Davis will be taking a more prominent role in the team as a fully fledged Developer to help me and Noble get the aforementioned tasks done. I'm sure he'll do great and I'm really looking forward to what he can bring to the table. I will also be reviewing the applications you guys sent in over the last few months and see if there's anyone we'd like to join the team.
All in all, while nice to hear something's being done, words are just what they are - words. While I'm already doing what I can behind the scenes every day, I'd like to urge you to never give me a break. I am well capable of coming up here and promise you that things will improve - no, but really this time -- if I fall short to follow through, it's important for you to hold me accountable. Despite real life commitments and being busy with other parts of LS-RP that aren't really seen above the surface, it's still my responsibility to make sure that I leave someone in place to handle the work that I no longer am able to do. It's what I asked for.
This took a weird turn. Regardless, good shit is gonna come out this year, good news are gonna be announced soon, cool projects that I worked on will be announced soon. Your patience will be rewarded.

In case people are unaware - yes, things are in the works. We never stopped working behind the scenes to make sure the server is moving forward.
