[RULE 45] No committing crimes in certain areas.

Post by Damian » Wed Aug 11, 2010 2:48 am

45. No committing crimes in certain areas.
You can't commit blatant acts of crime in highly populated areas or areas that would realistically be watched over by the security forces of Los Santos. These restriction mostly applies towards robberies, scamming, holding up; general harassing. These areas mostly consist of new players getting adjusted to the server so it would be unfair to take advantage of them there.

    Areas Protected:
    • City Hall / Police Department - Pershing Square
    • Sheriff Department
    • Airport
    • Bank(s)
    • Vehicle Dealerships
    • Mall
If the criminal roleplay leads to the area then you are allowed to continue. These areas aren't meant to be OOC safezones for people that are involved in these types of roleplay.

Fishing Pier? Seriously, that type of area would be packing IRL, and it is currently the most popular robbing area in the city.

I think SSs should be made of what CCTVs see and people shoudn't kill there.....unless they first break the CCTV.

I mean, we got CCTV and everything, but if there's no one 24.7 to watch them couse ofc everyone goes on duty, that shoudn't mean that no NPCs are watching them right?

Fishing Pier should honestly be added to that list. The people there are almost always below level 5 and are still getting adjusted to the server.

Fishing pier definantly needs to be added, all the new players go there to earn some money.

lol, you added the Mall but not the Fishing Pier? Once upon a time, 8 months ago I would agree but now I have to agree that the Fishing Pier is a bit ridiculous the amount of people that get robbed in one hour there, oh and Idlewood? You think I'm being stupid but there is so much activity there I think for the sake of RP you should not be able to shoot someone down there without repercussions.

So as officers, should we now just /re all calls we get about robberies at the fishing pier? Once confirmed, of course.

Also, there's been an occasion where I had to respond to a full scale shootout between some ten people with assault rifles at Commerce Dealership. I'm guessing that's a no-no now?

Guys, stop asking for more places to be added. Most of the server is based on criminal vs legal roleplay, if we'd OOCly exclude most areas from crime, the PD won't have anything to do basically, except /re'ing all day about IC 911 calls.

It's a good rule but I have a question. What about small crimes ? It happens IRL that someone attacks someone (only a fight between two, not a group fight), pick pocketing and similar crimes. They cannot be done at such locations, too ?

For the fishing pier I honestly don't know how to answer you there. It's kind of why I was skeptical of adding that area to that list in the first place. The area is just too far-gone in my opinion.

To the second part that can be considered an IC issue imo. A person with a gun shooting back obviously isn't new. And I think certain situations like that don't just arise randomly at a dealership. It was probably something that led there. The vehicle dealerships were added to the list mostly due to people stealing other's newly bought cars, not that many other crimes happen there besides annoying car crimes really.

Keep me updated though.

The places added so far are mostly places crime rarely happens in the first place (minus the pier). It's also been a rule since the server started really and it's been able to co-exist just fine with LS:RP. That doesn't mean I'm going to add half of Los Santos to the list though so don't worry.

Going to just stick with my gut instincts and remove fishing pier from the list. The area is too far gone ICly and OOCly, it'll be like adding Idlewood to the list at this point. Plus I can't even defend Fishing Pier being on the list, the place is just too far gone to try and apply a rule to.

This is a real shame. I see new struggling players getting robbed of all their earnings their on a minutely basis. Kinda non-RP to rob fishermen at place as crowded like this...
