Having studied English Lit, I have always felt that the psychoanalytical arguments are the most alluring and appealing to me. Ironically, books have always been intimidating. I'm glad this was easy to comprehend and short!

@Ruskie & OP,
On LS-RP, at least, I believe starting with an archetype and developing his or her complexities is the fastest way to get started and spontaneity is one of the greatest forces that drive conflict in LSRP. This spontaneity, when accompanied with the consistent questioning of a character's purpose can lead to a level of complexity that can be enjoyed by all parties involved.

Admittedly, one of the biggest fears I have is initiating conflict. After all, it is natural to be protective of your character. More often than not, however, stepping out of that comfort zone breed interesting situations that have otherwise shaped my character's thoughts and worldview.

This deserves a bump for the effort put in. For anyone interested in the human psyche and how that can be applied to your character, I highly recommend reading through it.
