Punk-Rock talk

Post by nookie » Sun Mar 06, 2011 12:28 pm

Hey there, this section isn't filled enough, so let's start a new thread as I don't want to mix Rock, Pop, Punk/Rock, Alternative and such.

Share your tastes !

A'ight, so I'll start with Anti-Flag which is a great band, with a slight punk look, and it really rocks.

---

Then, let me introduce you Sum 41, although I know you all know this astonishing band !

---

Finally, here's another ultra-famous band, Green Day.

Here you go, now it's you turn to show your punk rock tastes off !

PS: I created this thread since the other one (Rock talk) is mainly into old rock such as Led Zepplin and into alternative rock.

Everyone has his own tastes, I do like the videos you posted as I do like listening to punk, but I also really enjoy listening to new pop punk rock, you can't really say it's shit because everyone shares different tastes, let's be open-minded ;)

I re-discovered Dead Kennedys, I did forget them, they're really awesome.

Here's a french band, they're astounding !

I just think this new pop punk fights against everything that punk was. Punk was ment to be about social problems and this new bubblegum pop stuff sings about nothing but how your girlfriend left you and boo hoo. It's like ment for radio play and to be fashionable.

imho green day would be the worst example of punk-rock throughout the entire history of the punk rock genre.
I'm not much into these newer punk rock bands, I love the punk-rock first wave bands though. For example these two bands, that never tire me and I could listen to all the time:

and then there are The Ramones, The Jam etc.

Wht do you guys think about Sum 41's new album, Screaming Bloody Murder, I think it's one of their best albums once we get used to it.

Bob(Name Changed) wrote:I listened their newest for some reason. It was horrible. Not a single new idea, it sounded more like a Green Day, Bad Religion and Blink 182-compilation. It was all so calculated, nothing dynamic at all. No attitude or balls. I regret listening it.

I used to be more into the hardcore/metalcore punk like Escape The Fate's first album, but now I like lighter things too :) I like mainly songs with amazing drum beats :>
Is this considered punk? I think it is.
