32 Arrested, $900,000 in Drugs Seized in Top Six Gang Bust Targeting Haitian Mafia

Authorities seized 67 firearms, $95,700 in currency, and methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana with a total street value of $900,000.

More than 32 people with ties to two criminal street gangs have been arrested in a series of raids carried out in Harvey Drive and surrounding areas as part of an operation to crack down on firearms trafficking, officials announced.
In addition to the arrests of 32 people on Thursday, the months-long investigation had previously netted 20 arrests, according to the LS Attorney General's office.

"The large amounts of narcotics, currency -- and most importantly -- the large cache of weapons seized, will no doubt disrupt the criminal gangs' enterprise, thus making our communities that much safer,'' LS Police Chief Michael Houston said.

Members of the Top Six Mafia and the Top Card DN were targeted in the sweep, which involved more than 80 law enforcement personnel from the Los Santos Police Department, Sheriff's Department Los Santos Justice and Corrections & Rehabilitation departments.

The individuals taken into custody are facing a slew of felony charges, including firearm assault, extortion, drug trafficking and conspiracy. Officials said that, thanks to today's busts and the previous raids, a total $900,000 in illegal drugs were taken off the street.

"Criminal gangs brazenly trafficking guns and drugs on our streets jeopardize public safety and will not be tolerated," said Attorney General Cooper. The Haitian Mafia controls the drug trade and conducts other illicit activity in state correctional facilities and elsewhere, according to public safety officials.

More Carnage in Los Santos: The Bloodied Body of a Drug Lord Lies in the Street After He is Shot Dead by Gang Members as the Los Santos Brutal War on Narcotics Intensifies, the Murderer Captured

A suspected drug lord was killed in his vehicle, near the gas station in Idlewood. The murderer arrested five months later by the LS police department.

A 26-year-old man, described as a small-time cocaine dealer, was charged with murder yesterday in the death of Antonio Gomand, the police said.

Two other men who the police believe were involved in the shooting were being sought. The police would not reveal their names.

Michael Westbrook, the Chief of Detectives, said the shooting was related to a long on-going drug war between two criminal organizations.

''It was clear from the beginning this was related to a drug rivalry between two organizations that are under investigation for a very long time,'' the Chief said.

The suspect, Reginald Beverly, who is also known as Gino Beverly, was arrested at 1:30 A.M. Tuesday behind of Pig Pen in Harvey Drive, Chief Westbrook said.

Mr. Beverly was charged with first-degree murder, weapons possession and reckless endangerment.

Chief Westbrook said Mr. Beverly is believed to be one of three men who fired over 29 shots from three automatics on Aug. 22 through Antonio Gomand's vehicle, leaving him dead and the passenger UNKNOWN brutally wounded.

The police at first said they believed that the shooting might have been linked to a longstanding feud Gomand had with a next-door group over drug dealing. But Chief Westbrook said last night that Mr. Beverly did not appear to have any connection to that group.

He would not, however, rule out the possibility that Mr. Beverly had been hired as a gunman.

''The investigation is continuing to determine whether or not there was a broader conspiracy, whether or not some groups in effect put out a contract,'' he said.

Mr. Beverly had been arrested in Miami on drug charges and had apparently fled after the most recent arrest, Chief Westbrook said.

After Mr. Beverly's arrest, the police recovered a Soviet PPS-43 machine gun that they believe was one of the guns used in the shooting, Chief Westbrook said. Ballistics tests showed that the gun matched some of the bullets recovered after the shooting, but it was not the gun that fired the fatal shot, he said.

Firearm Trafficking Bust - 4 Men Arrested

LOS SANTOS — Police have arrested four Miami men who they say were part of a conspiracy to smuggle guns from their home state into Los Santos for sale on the street.

Prosecutors say 28-year-old Antoine Periodicals, the suspected ringleader of the group, was apprehended along with three of his suppliers following an investigation into the “iron pipeline” of illegally trafficked firearms.

The suspects coordinated sales over the phone and through text messages. Periodicals allegedly sold more than 100 weapons at an average price of $1,000 a piece to an undercover LSPD detective between November 28 and January 17.

The trafficking ring was brought down with help from court-authorized wiretaps and social media analysis.

Periodicals’ attorney says his client, has pleaded not guilty.

LS Police Raids Suspected Firearms and Narcotics Traffickers

Armed federal agents wearing all-black helmets and bulletproof vests conducted a raid shrouded in early morning darkness Wednesday in West Los Santos as part of a larger operation against suspected gun traffickers and narcotics dealers.

Just moments after the suspects parked their SUV infront of a restaurant's parking lot, the agents yelled, “On the floor! On the floor!”. Agents led handcuffed three men and a woman out of the restaurant's parking lot and shortly after 10 p.m. retrieved about $52,000 in cash but no illegal weapons or narcotics was found.

The suspects, identified as Carter LaFarriere, 32, Kamoni Sterlings, 30, Darion Thomas, 25, Lydia Thomas, 22, were let free after a 4 hours interview with the detectives, authorities said.
