I noticed the spinning "i" at about ten in the morning, and I was like "R.I.P Doe, but why did they put your memorial thing here and not in the graveyard?" Then I turned around, and the whole panorama of LS was revealed to my eyes. Shiiit, he's watching over us guys. I had the chills for a moment back then.

And as a fading red iron-cross shaped tail light disappeared down a bombed out highway, the only sound louder than a tricked out Shovelhead skull bound for glory, was the rusty laughter of the devil himself. His work here was finally done.

Fromt what I heard, it was his favourite place to AFK or just being there, not quite sure if I'm right.

Seemed like a promising DJ and I guess that tree was dedicated because he would AFK there, and also did an ingame marriage there I believe with Revy.

Dear veterans, casuals and newcomers.
It really fills me with happiness to read the replies people have posted over the years, or the newcomers just asking about Doe.
It could not be more of a double edged sword for me personally.
Every time I read these warm replies, at the same time, they truthfully break my fucking heart.
There are good reasons as to why it has been longer than 5 years for me to publicly say anything on the matter.

Hopefully I will be able to fill in some of the blanks or perhaps answer some questions people might have about Doe.

When I first met Doe, we we're playing on "The Godfather RP" server.
This server was in many ways the predecessor of what we now all know as the "LS-RP" server.

There are still many pieces of information about Doe to be found around these forums.
When it comes to the actual tree itself, there seem to be a few altercations.
Contrary to popular belief, the location of the tree is not the location where Doe and I got married.
(We did get married, but it was not at the tree's location.)

The whole notion of the actual tree itself is based on a misconception.
In fact, the very existence of this tree has absolutely nothing to do with the Doe memorial.

The reason why the memorial was placed in that location had to do with the vicinity.
The tree was simply a 'object' we used on very few occasions to lean our backs against.

When Doe and I were married, we lived in the Vinewood villa furthest on the right, closest to the highway and straight across from the mountain where the memorial is located.
After a hard day's work we used to drive our cars up that mountain.
If you go off-road from the highway up on the mountain, you had to go full throttle in some of the more faster cars and you would barely make it to the highest top of that hill.
From there we took a sharp right, and parked our cars right at the edge of the hill facing the city to watch the sun set.
I say edge, because due to the slope angle once your car was halfway over it there was no amount of reversing that could bring you back 'on' that edge.
And yes, we had our fair share of slides and tumbles going up as well as going down from that hill.
The added bonus of the highway 'borders' on both sides resulted in many car explosions.

Most of you know all too well how these things go.
You park your car in a seemingly random location and before you know it you spend hours and hours RP'ing in that exact same location for no apparent reason at all.

And so our long nights began.
It came to a point where we were no longer filling our days with the so called 'hard work', but spend our hours on that hill 'beating' hundreds and hundreds of admin AFK checks.
I seem to recall there was a period of time here where Doe was not a admin yet.
This is where the notion "His favorite AFK spot" comes from.
After his promotion 'AFK checks' simply became friendly visits by colleagues.

As some of you may have experienced yourself as well, these 'feelings' and 'emotions' don't necessarily always stay IC.
Email's were shared and contact details were given.
I believe I was around 18-19 at that time.
We were young, stupid..you spend enough time together in-game or out of game 'OOCly' and these feelings and emotions become real.
You make plans and dream of a happy ending.
But there are always darker times. Club related business and financial hurdles gave little lee-way when it comes to a long distance relationship and our contact lessened as a result.

This may be horrific of me to say, but I have lost family members to cancer--this is something you 'work' towards and 'prepare' for.
Neither of them came as close to the amount of pain I felt the day Richard Zimmerling was taken so abruptly from us.
It was as if someone ripped out a part of my soul.

I apologize if this last part was too much 'off-topic'
It was my intention to rectify some discrepancies in LS-RP history.
I don't know why I am posting all this now or in this specific topic.
Richard, the wonderful memories of you help in closing this gap.

Forever in our hearts.

I've always remembered that tree, I remember stumbling across it years ago. I always knew it had something to do with somebody IRL from this community. Now I know, sad.

I'd seen that tree, and forgotten it. It gave me chills just seeing the message; I almost couldn't believe it was there. I'm glad to know the truth now, and proud to be part of a community who can honor a member like that.

Kudos to Rev, and rest in peace Johnathan Doe.

Jesus, Revy. That was heart breaking to read, my condolences.

R.I.P Doe. I remember discovering the tree back in 2011 when I was a new player. Had no clue what it was but I kept my attention on the tree for some odd reason.
