Re: Rule Update - April 2015:
Something that A LOT of you are forgetting is that these are OOC rules that's been updated.
In regards of the scamming casino, there exists a charge called "Fraud",
simply have yourself evidence of the incident ICly and with screenshots for OOC verification, and you're safe.
If you're doing shady business such as vehicle raffling, then just record it ICly on your phone,
then report it to your local law enforcement agency.

Considering how many people stockpile namechanges from having gold or silver donor status, I'm sure many have at least one ready to go immediately after a big blackjack or raffle scam. And rule on NCing is clear, you're not allowed to do it while there's a trial but nothing stops them from copping out of it on an OOC level and NCing while the victim of the scam prepares the documentation to sue.Buck? wrote:Spoiler: show
Stricter rules on changing character names (example: not being able to NC for an hour after last login to give the other party a chance to fight in some way) could be a way to go, but I think staff wants to avoid this as it would influence how much people spend in donations. Another perspective would be that escaping the consequences via OOC means is okay because it does come at a cost, a cost that keeps the server going in the long run. This is just food for thought; in my own selfish opinion, the less OOC support gamblers get the better. We've basically been playing Las Venturas Roleplay for a while and a change is very welcome.

I'm pretty sure there'd be some admin repercussions if a player was to just NC five minutes after pulling off a scam.Ferdinand wrote:Considering how many people stockpile namechanges from having gold or silver donor status, I'm sure many have at least one ready to go immediately after a big blackjack or raffle scam. Re: Rule Update - April 2015:
If players are scamming money off people and then namechanging then of course some form of action will be taken on them, just before it doesn't state in the rule 'don't namechange' doesn't mean it's morally right to do so for the purpose of stealing money under OOC levels.Alonzo. wrote:With no rules in place for that why would they?Garr wrote: I'm pretty sure there'd be some admin repercussions if a player was to just NC five minutes after pulling off a scam.
Looking for loop holes in rules isn't going to fix nor solve anything, every rule we have here could have a 'what if' situation but the what if situation usually answers itself with common sense.

some fucking sanity in this idiocy.Mofujohn wrote:The new scam rule about gambling at your own risk in legal casinos is stupid.
Scamming in a legal casino in real life wouldn't really work, you could just sue the whole casino for that.
People buy casinos for 80+ million because they know people will go to it to gamble, as they feel safe as they cannot be scammed. What's the point of buying a casino for 80+ million when I can just furnish my 200k house into a casino interior.
Taking all of you obschak

Re: Rule Update - April 2015:
Well it's gonna make casino prices more reasonable and as i've said before, people are gonna have to tighten up with some constructive ideas to IC'ly secure their business from such thing occuring and if they occur then sort it out. No one will ever be fully happy with this rule but it's for the better whether you see it that way or not and in time there will be stability for those who finally crack the ways of creating and maintaining a great new standard in these times of change. Reap the rewards by being the first.

I feel that the team worked a bit too much on the scamming section and I hope that I am wrong. Thanks for the update.

I'm never going to raffle again or play blackjack. Never in my life. Dude the person will just sit in his car and dip if you win a car lol, like literally, you'll always get scammed. In real life, scams by legal casinos would mean them getting sued and what not and the police would help you get your money back. But I'm afraid that won't be the case in LSRP. I believe the removal of scam rules are just pointless.

Re: Rule Update - April 2015:
this is fantastic, outstanding even. i'm beyond glad this is happening, and i can only hope myriads of people fall in line with your decision (after handing out thousands of dollars to a stranger over a verbal promise of possibly winning a car), in hopes i won't ever have to see a restaurant opening that offers a little bit of raffling on the side. perhaps we'll even see the day where you won't drive past the mall, seeing /shouts of raffles and gambling reminiscing of WTS notices in mmos.keinanW wrote:I'm never going to raffle again or play blackjack. I feel that your opinion might be colored a bit by a minority of the population given that your IC experiences are mainly in the FD (although I could be wrong).Deceive wrote:I feel that the team worked a bit too much on the scamming section and I hope that I am wrong. Thanks for the update.
The FD is largely composed of civilians (some might even say mall-RPers) who did enjoy casinos, but I do feel that a larger part of the population found them more annoying and unrealistic than anything.
Apologies if I misinterpreted you entirely.
There is a court system in place and you can still sue a casino, as you would in real life.keinanW wrote:I'm never going to raffle again or play blackjack. Never in my life. I find the idea of having OOC regulations in place to maintain realism useless when the realism can be maintained IC.
Before casinos would recruit even random strangers to deal for them, if anything I found this old method highly unrealistic.
Now they, like real casinos, have a reputation to protect.
