Laws and Acts of San Andreas 2010

Terms used within: SAHFP is the San Andreas High Facility Prison, the Las Venturas Prison. LSP is the Los Santos Prison, the prison located near the Los Santos Police Department Headquarters.

Misdemeanours
Vehicle related
Reckless driving - $800 fine, one driver's license warning
Speeding - $600 fine
Possession of Nitrous Oxide - $650 fine, impounding of vehicle, one driver's license warning
Use of Nitrous Oxide - $700 fine, impounding of vehicle, two driver's license warnings
Illegal parking - $300-500 fine, depending on parking
Driving under the influence - 10 minute arrest, $1000 fine, two driver's license warnings - $2500 bail
Stunt driving (street racing charge) - 12 minute arrest, $1500 fine, two driver's license warnings - $2500 bail
Failure to yield to emergency services - $500 fine

Other
Deception of an LEO - 5 minute arrest, $500 fine
Misuse of emergency services - 5 minute arrest, $400 fine, $1000 bail
Trespassing - 5 minute arrest, $200 fine, $800 bail
Loitering - $400 fine
Failure to comply to a lawful order - Depending on the order refused
Illegal gambling - Depending on extent of gambling
Vehicle theft (stealing a vacant vehicle) - 8 minute arrest, fine depending on damage to vehicle, no more than $8000
Wearing a disguise (bandana over mouth/face, etc.) - 5 minute arrest, $200 fine, $700 bail
Disorderly conduct - 8 minute arrest, $500 fine, $2000 bail
Failure to pay a fine - 10 minute arrest, $200 fine
Failure to identify yourself to an LEO - 5 minute arrest, $200 fine
Indecent exposure - 4 minute arrest, $150 fine
Public intoxication - 8 minute arrest, $1000 fine, $2500 bail
Criminal mischief - Depends on what type of mischief is perpetrated, no more than 5 minutes and $3500

Felonies
Unlawful fleeing of an LEO in a motor vehicle (evading) - 20 minute arrest, $3000 fine, removal of driver's license, impounding of vehicle
Unlawful fleeing of an LEO by foot (fleeing) - 18 minute arrest, $2900 fine

Weapons and Narcotics related
Possession of an illegal narcotic(s) - 12 minute arrest, $1600 fine
Possession of an illegal firearm(s) - 16 minute arrest, $1700 fine
Intent to sell illegal firearms (possession of more than three firearms) - Additional time and a fine added, depending on amount of firearms, no more than 10 minutes and $3000 added
Intent to sell illegal narcotics (possession of more than three grams/types of drugs) - Additional time and a fine added, depending on amount of narcotics, no more than 8 minutes and $2500 added added
Brandishing of a firearm - 20 minute arrest, $2500 fine
Aggravated assault (pointing a firearm at someone) - 20 minute arrest, $3000 fine
Possession of an illegal weapon (knife etc.) - 10 minute arrest, $500 fine, $1500 bail

Other
Unarmed assault - 15 minute arrest, $1000 fine, $2000 bail
Obstruction of justice - Depends on what is obstructed, no more than 20 minutes and $2000
Aiding and abeting - Depends what is aided in
Unarmed robbery - 20 minute arrest, $3000 fine
Driving without a license - 15 minute arrest, $1500 fine, impounding of vehicle
Riotous activities - Depends on the activities committed, no more than 30 minutes and $4000
Grand theft auto (stealing a vehicle while someone's inside) - 10 minute arrest, $600 fine, $1600 bail
Forgery - Depends on what was forged, no more than 10 minutes and $1000
Criminal damage to property - Depends on what is damaged, and how
Tax evasion - Depends on the scope of tax evasion
Vigilantism - Depends on what is done, no more than 20 minutes and $3000
Conspiracy - Depends on what was conspired, no more than 30 minutes and $3000

Los Santos Prison (LSP) sentences
Note: The maximum punishment you can receive in LSP is 10 hours and a $60,000 fine, however it can be exceeded slightly on judgement by a High Command officer of either the LSPD or SASD. So if the total time and fine is higher than 10 hours and $60,000 after the charges are tallied up, it will automatically be rounded off to 10 hours and $60,000.
Kidnapping - 5 hours in LSP, $15,000 fine
Trafficking of illegal firearms - 3 hours in LSP, $10,000 fine
Trafficking of illegal narcotics - 2 hours in LSP, $9500 fine
Mass trafficking of illegal firearms - 6 hours in LSP, $20,000 fine
Mass trafficking of illegal narcotics - 4 hours in LSP, $19,000 fine
Hostage taking - 5 hours in LSP, $30,000 fine
Attempted unarmed murder - 2 hours in LSP, $10,000 fine
Attempted armed murder - 4 hours in LSP, $40,000 fine
Armed assault (hurting someone with a bat, gun, etc.) - 2 hours in LSP, $20,000 fine
Armed robbery - 3 hours in LSP, $20,000 fine
Bank robbery - 4 hours in LSP, $30,000 fine
Unarmed murder - 6 hours in LSP, $45,000
Armed murder - 7 hours in LSP, $50,000
Manslaughter - 2 hours in LSP, $10,000 fine
Fraud (car scams, etc.) - 2 hours in LSP, $30,000 fine, proceeds defrauded are retrieved via additional fining
Arson - 2 hours in LSP, $40,000 fine plus any property damage
Hit and run - 2 hours in LSP, $20,000 fine
Extortion - 2 hours in LSP, $40,000 fine plus any money extorted
Sexual assault - 1 hour in LSP, $15,000 fine
Rape - 2 hours in LSP, $30,000 fine

Police/Government related
Unarmed assault of a gov employee - 20 minute arrest, $2000 fine
Armed assault of a gov employee - 3 hours in LSP, $25,000 fine
Attempted unarmed murder of a gov employee - 3 hours in LSP, $15,000 fine
Attempted armed murder of a gov employee - 6 hours in LSP, $45,000 fine
Unarmed murder of a gov employee - 7 hours in LSP, $50,000 fine
Armed murder of a gov employee - 8 hours in LSP, $60,000 fine

Monumental Offenses
Note: Monumental offense charges can only be laid by the Chief of Police or Sheriff
Crimes against the state (extensive criminal activity, no chance of rehabilitation) - 10 hours in SAHFP max, $100,000 fine
Terrorism - Possible execution, life imprisonment, or SAHFP sentence

Policies and Amendments
If a felony is committed in which someone is killed, everyone involved in that felony is charged for the murder. For example, in a gang war if someone is shot dead, anyone involved in the gang war arrested will be charged for armed murder.

Non-compliance during arrest allows an officer to increase your fine or time however he/she sees fit, however it must be reasonable. Conversely, complying with officers allows officers to reduce your fine and time.

Committing a violent offense against a government worker or emergency services heavily increases the time and fine you may have gotten if you have done it against a civilian.

Officers are only required to read rights if they have not witnessed your crime or do not have substantial evidence. In which case, they'll tell you the following:
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, alternate measures will be made.

If there is no substantial evidence against you, officers are allowed to hold you for a maximum period of 2 hours in LSP and 15 minutes in jail. In which case, you are entitled to a trial. Otherwise, you are not entitled to a trial.

Phone calls when arrested are up to the discretion of the arresting officer(s) or officer(s) in charge. Compliance will usually allow you to call someone. However, the availability of police manpower is a vital factor.

Visitation rights, either while in jail or LSP, is purely dependent on available police manpower at the time.

These laws and acts are subject to change at any time depending on dynamic factors inside and outside of Los Santos.

If you at any time fail to identify yourself truthfully to an officer during an arrest, he/she reserves full right to detain you in LSP indefinitely until you provide an actual name.

Times and fines are reasonably flexible. If you comply throughout an arrest, you may be issued a shorter time and a lower fine. If you resist however, you can expect a much harsher punishment.

((That's good, it's more realistic times, good stuff. Can I suggest that to tackle people logging to serve their prison sentence instead they serve it like the PD jail times? It's realistic and boosts prison role-play.))

(( Wait, so does that mean we have to be online the whole time for the LSP sentences? So you'd need to be online for a maximum of 10 hours sitting in a box with hardly anyone else? If not and you can log off then I'm all for this system, the reduced times sounds great. ))

(( You have to be ingame for the 10 hours, yes..
And reduced times? They've all been increased. Evading for example is now 20 minutes instead of 10.. Posession of a firearm is now 16 minutes instead of 5. Armed robbery = 3 hours, before it was like 15 minutes. None of them have been reduced. ))

HFP is used rarely to my knowing anyway. It's the LSP which is quite busy. ))

Yes it does, except the fact is you most likely won't be alone inside the prison. Assuming people are put in LSP now adays almost every fifteen minutes then you'll have a lot of company because they cannot log out and just go inactive for ten hours. ))

It's real life hours, for unarmed assault of an officer you get a real 3 hours in LSP and $25,000 fine.
