Yes, you read it correctly: I'm changing my name for charity. In real life. If my target is met, I'll change my name to "Shambolic Intergalactic Scrumdiddlyumptious Effervescent Penumbrous Whimsical Super-Hydrogenous Crime-Fighting Piacular Nugatory Contumelious Capacious Vapid Ninja-Penguin".
I like to do crazy things, especially when it's for charity. I've been thinking of doing this for a while, but when I found out that my biology teacher from secondary school (who was an absolute legend) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and that he's spending his time raising money for Cancer Research UK, I was inspired to actually go ahead and do it.
My target is £200, and if I raise that then I'll sign the deed poll and change all the necessary records including my driver's license, passport, university records and more (and yes, I'll take pictures). I'll keep the name for at least three months, and for every additional £150 I raise on top of the target I'll keep the name for an extra three months up to a maximum of one year. All donations go to Cancer Research UK.
This is all being done properly, and I would use the name Shambolic Ninja-Penguin (or "Sham" for short) for my daily business. All the actual costs of paying for the deed poll will be met by me, so 100% of the donations will go to charity. Please donate everything you can!
And yes, I'll take suggestions for additional middle names.
