By Edina Del Rey | August 7, 2017
On the 6th of August 2017, a suicidal man had climbed on a building adjacent from the Jefferson Motel, he gained high access of the building with the use of a grappling hook and rope. EMS and police officials arrived on scene, soon blocking Princeton Street. A megaphone was used by a member of the Fire Department to communicate with the suicidal individual in attempt to make the man not jump off the five story building. Residents in the building had called the police after hearing the shouting.
The man was begged not to jump by many bystanders on the scene. After a full conversation between the FD member on scene and the man, he soon decided to safely get down from the north-east side of the building. After he got down, he was restrained by a law enforcement officer alongside the two responding FD members on Santa Ana Street, Las Calinas. He is now being held in the Crisis Center for a psych evaluation until further notice. It is still unknown on the reason why the man wanted to end his life.
