Difference between parking and stopping a vehicle.

Post by Armqus » Sat Oct 19, 2013 12:46 pm

Isn't it kind of irritating that you stop your vehicle in front of the bank to pick up your friend and then a cruiser approaches you from behind and instructs you to pull over and issues you a ticket for illegal parking? Well, this happened to me today and this've also happened at the mall aswell. What irritates me is that stopping and parking HAS difference, but in LS-RP the deputies and officers doesn't seem to know the difference.

For example, here are some quotes from Wikipedia and google in general:
Wikipedia wrote:Parking is the act of stopping and disengaging a vehicle and leaving it unoccupied.

A NO PARKING sign means you can stop to pick up/drop off somebody/something.

"No Parking" means you're not allowed to get out of your car and walk away from it to return at some later time.

"No Parking" means you cannot shut your car off and leave it unattended there.

If the driver stays in the car, especially with the engine running, it is "stopped" and not "parked."

And a lot more...

Don't hesitate to discuss about this so go ahead and post your opinions!

A lot of people who role play LEOs honestly haven't done enough research into the field. This is why this happens, sadly.

LSRP is a game, i wish people would stop trying to add every single real life detail, it makes the game dull and depressing, just enjoy LSRP for what it is, you got plenty time to moan about parking tickets in real life when you get a car.

The thing is, most people on the server put money or having their character "win" in a situation, as their first priority. There's very little discretion from people. In other words, what I'm saying is that you are right about it being okay to pull-up and still be in your vehicle. But, a lot of the times the cops don't think of it that way, and are just looking to show their power or hand out a ticket. I'm not saying every one of them is like that though.

However, there's just one extra bit of information. As far as I'm aware, it's fine to stop in front of the bank, as long as you're not stopped there for an excessive amount of time.

P.S. If I were you, and his happens often, I'd start demanding to see a supervisor.

yeah, i get what you mean.

every time i pull over to the side, people go completely mental and curse/honk/drive into me for stopping on a curb. i just feel like a lot of people, who quite possibly don't drive cars irl, who're roleplaying people who drive cars, haven't done enough researching when it comes to roleplaying people who drive cars.

it's very irritating and i'm glad this was brought up for discussion.
